Points of Considerations for 10T Excavator Rentals

10T excavators are uniquely positioned between the mini excavator category and standard excavator category which offers both the best and worst of both sides of the field. The same can be said about the cost of these excavators which is lower than standard excavators but just slightly higher than high-end mini excavators with regards to both purchase price and rental price. Most heavy equipment rental companies that offer excavators for hire generally promote the 10T excavator more frequently compared to other categories due to the versatility and robustness of this particular class of excavator.

However, there are several factors that must be considered prior to obtaining a 10T excavator for hire starting with space limitations it is a given that although the 10T excavator has a smaller frame than standard excavator classes, they are larger than mini excavators Due to this, this particular excavator class may be taken for hire for only certain residential projects and not all as in essence they are less manoeuvrable in congested areas when compared to mini excavators.

Due to the weight of these machines, they are perhaps more suited for the initial stages of landscaping after which the use of smaller and lighter excavators would be more practical post landscaping. On the positive side, if the project site has sufficient space for the machine to move about unhindered, the use of 10T excavators would benefit projects in terms of both cost and productivity due to the bigger capacity of these machines which naturally lead to quicker work cycles involving the machine.

Among the more suitable applications for 10T excavators includes medium to large landscaping projects due to their mid category weigh which result in less surface compression. The ability of 10T machines to create ponds quickly or excavate landscaping beds and move large amounts of soil, rubble and rocks is attributed to the power that these machines offer which are almost comparable to standard excavators.

For the most part, seasoned contractors use 10T excavators for foundation work, especially for project sites that have to contend with ‘space issues’ and also for medium level demolition projects where these machines are assigned to remove existing structures and clear debris. Compared to smaller excavators, the capacity of 10T excavators to handle material is also a plus factor as these machines are capable of loading and transporting much more materials on each run compared to mini or midi excavators.

Although the use of 10T excavators is largely recommended for medium to large projects, the use of this class of excavator could be considered for residential projects provided there is enough space for the machine to be managed efficiently. The savings that can be gained by using optimal sized excavators could be substantial and projects could be hurried along faster without any compromise on the quality of work expected.

However, it must be noted that the optimal or efficient use of any heavy machine, not just excavators, is largely dependent on the skill level or experience of the operator and this factor should never be overlooked in order to ensure the success of any project.
